‘Sundowns have changed the way they play’: Gavin Hunt

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt believes rivals Mamelodi Sundowns have changed how they play since Rulani Mokwena took over as sole head coach.
In October, Sundowns moved away from the co-coaching set-up, assigning Mokwena as head coach while Manqoba Mngqithi was named senior coach.
Since then, Sundowns have gone on an 11-match unbeaten run in the league.
However, on Monday evening, Hunt believes they scored a lucky goal against his team in a DStv Premiership clash as they were better.
The Tshwane derby was a tight contest. Both teams were creating goal-scoring opportunities in the final third.
Masandawana took their chance and scored the match’s only goal through the in-form Neo Maema early in the second half.
GAVIN HUNT ON SUNDOWNS GOAL
“They [Sundowns] got a lucky goal, a bit, unfortunately. All in all, I think we created better chances. They didn’t have the ball. But we good,” said Hunt.
“I thought we were a better team, we were magnificent, and we had a good game. We created many chances. It isn’t easy to score against a team like this. All I ask from them is, to be honest with me and be honest with the game.
“We came here a patched team, a lot of players out, seven players out. We kept going, but we have to put the ball at the back of the net.”
HUNT ON SUNDOWNS’ STYLE OF PLAY
Hunt shared his view on how Sundowns have changed their playing style in the past few matches under coach Rulani Mokwena.
“They’ve changed the way they play in the last couple of weeks, and I thought we should just go with what we know.
“I believe we were good, we just have to commend them. How many points are they clear now?”
The narrow defeat saw Matsatsantsa shy away even more from Masandawana. The gap between the two teams is now 16 points as Bafana Ba Style registered their 11th straight victory. They have accumulated 43 points from 17 matches.
