Sundowns’ Mailula reveals how he’s managed to maintain scoring form

Mamelodi Sundowns red-hot striker Cassius Mailula has revealed how he has managed to maintain his scoring form.

Mailula has been on top of his game since he was handed his first DStv Premiership start by coach Rulani Mokwena. The Sundowns academy graduate has taken his league form to the continent.

Mailula scored his first CAF Champions League hat trick against La Passe in the preliminary round. In their first two group-stage matches, he has netted three goals.

His superb performance against Cameroon’s Coton Sport on Friday earned him a man of the match award.

To this day, the 21-year-old has been ruthless in front of goal. The goal poacher has been directly involved in the team’s 16 goals so far. He has scored 12 goals and provided four assists in 17 matches in all competitions.

HOW MAILULA STAYS IN FORM

The striker attributed his good form to his teammates. According to Mailula, they assist him with positioning and with what’s right and what’s wrong.

“It’s not about me because the guys [other players] always help me to get into good positions. They always give me the right details; what do to and not what to do,” Mailula told the club’s media department.

WHAT MAILULA INTENDS TO DO TIRELESSLY

Mailula further revealed one thing he intends to do tirelessly for his team.

“I’m happy about myself scoring, but I think I can actually do more by keep on scoring goals and never get tired of scoring,” he added.

The Sundowns star will be aiming to keep on banging goals when they face Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the Champions League.

The much-anticipated Group B encounter will take place on Saturday, 25 February. Kickoff at Al-Salam Stadium Cairo is at 9pm [SA Time].
