SuperSport return to winning ways, Gallants register first victory

SuperSport United returned to winning ways on Tuesday evening as they defeated coachless Royal AM 3-1 in a DStv Premiership clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile at Mbombela Stadium Marumo Gallants finally broke their eight-match winless run by beating TS Galaxy 1-0 to register their first victory of the season.

The first half ended deadlock at nil all. It was, however a one sided affair with the hosts SuperSport dominant throughout the entire 45 minutes.

In the first half, Tshwane side registered a total of seven shots, two on target whilst Royal AM went to the break without testing Ricardo Goss as they failed to fire a shot at goal.

Bradley Grobler and Onismor Bhasera had great chances to put the hosts ahead, however they couldn’t find the back of the net.

In the second half it was galore for both teams. Thamsanqa Gabuza scored his first goal of the season breaking the deadlock in the 59th minute.

Thwihli Thwahla levelled matters in the 75th minute through Mfundo Thikazi.

However, Grant Margerman restored Matsatsantsa’s lead nine minutes before fulltime, with Bradley Grobler putting the game to bed scored in stoppage time.

The 3-1 victory lifted the Tshwane outfit to fourth on the DStv Premiership standings with 14 points from nine matches. Royal AM dropped to six with 13 points

TS Galaxy v Marumo Gallants

In another DStv Premiership encounter played on Tueday evening, Marumo Gallants registered their first victory of the season as they defeated TS Galaxy 1-0.

Sede Dion scored the only goal of the match, breaking the deadlock 38 minutes into the game, thanks to an assist by Katlego Otladisa.

The second half was less in action in front of goal. Both teams had decent opportunities to find the back of the net, however they lacked clinical finishing.

Gallants’ victory lifted them from the bottom of the log to 14th. They have accumulated nine points in nine matches. On the other hand, The Rockets are 13th, a point above Gallants.
