Swallows CEO shocked by Kerr’s remarks

Swallows CEO Sipho Xulu says he was shocked and disappointed by the club’s former coach Dylan Kerr’s recent utterances in the media.

Kerr, who was shown the exit door by Swallows on Wednesday after a poor start to the 2022/23 season, accused the club of not supporting him.

The Maltese-born coach has been vocal in the media about the challenges the club is facing, especially after last weekend’s 4-0 loss to Golden Arrows in a DStv Premiership clash.

Kerr claimed that there was a lack of support from the management, and senior players ganged up against him in the dressing room, which made it hard for him to excel after saving the club from relegation last campaign.

SWALLOWS COMMENTS ON KERR

Swallows have since responded to Kerr’s remarks, expressing their shock through CEO Xulu, who revealed Kerr never aired the issues he encountered at the club with the management.

“Dylan Kerr never told us anything; he never told us about senior players giving him trouble. We only saw that in media,” Xulu told Ukhozi FM.

The CEO says the Soweto side had meetings with the coach to explain his comments to the media but denied them, and as a club, they protected him and even now, they won’t say a lot about him.

“We can say a lot, but we don’t want to; he has said a lot of things in media, but he never told us anything, we wanted to know about those comments, but he didn’t say anything to us,” added Xulu.

Swallows have already received several applications for the head coach vacancy, with the likes of Ernst Middendorp, Owen Da Gama, and Fadlu Davids still unattached.

“We have received too many CVs from top coaches, will make an announcement soon; for now, there’s no new coach; the assistant coaches are in charge of training,” concluded the Swallows CEO.

It is understood that they already have front runners, with the name of the coach set to be revealed next week after finalising everything.
