Tembo eager to end Richards Bay good topflight start

Sekhukhune United mentor Kaitano Tembo says he is aware of the threat posed by DStv Premiership newcomers Richards Bay. His aim heading into the encounter on Saturday is to end their opponents’ good start.

He anticipates a difficult encounter away from home, but is confident his charges can cause an upset.

Both Babina Noko and Natal Rich Boyz have accumulated four points respectively in their two opening matches of the season. The KZN outfit is positioned second on the log table because of a better goal difference. The newcomers are yet to concede a goal.

“We are playing a team that have had a very good start. Out if the two games they have got a good four points and also have two cleansheets which is very good for a team which has been promoted,” Tembo told the club media.

“We are looking forward to a very tough game but at the same time we are really prepared to take them on and build from our good start to the season.”

“At the same time we got our own ambitions, we want to build on the performances as well as the results [a draw and a victory].”

Looking at the teams on paper, Tembo’s charges are the favorites to come out on top with maximum points mainly because of their squad depth. Sekhukhune have been one of the active sides in the transfer window bolstering their squad.

Tshegofatso Mabasa

In total, the Polokwane outfit has acquired the services of 17 new players after parting ways with 14. Bafana Bafana striker Victor Letsoalo, former Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso and ex-Orlando Pirates duo Linda Mntambo and Tshegofatso Masaba were headlining the transfers.

The main reason for so many signing at the club is their ambition to build from a 11th place finish in the league in their debut season. Kickoff at King Zwelithini Stadium is at 17:30.
