Tembo identifies area Sekhukhune must work on
Sekhukhune United coach Kaitano Tembo has identified the area in defence his side need to work on.
This comes after Tembo’s return to his former club SuperSport United didn’t go as planned on Friday evening in the DStv Premiership. Tembo suffered a 3-1 defeat away from home.
Tembo says his Babina Noko side should improve in dealing with set plays. All of SuperSport’s three goals on the night were scored from set plays, as Sekhukhune failed to deal with the balls when they were under attack.
“I mentioned that we need to have a good start and deal with set plays, all their three goals [SuperSport United] came from set plays,” Tembo told the club’s media department.
“So if you can defend better set plays, you have a chance against them, but we didn’t do that.
“Second half, I thought we were much better when we brought in Wonderboy Makhubu, Thami Masiya and Pogiso Mahlangu. We chased the game, and we got a goal, and they also scored from a set play again, a long throw-in into the box, we don’t clear, and they score.”
Tembo further praised Gavin Hunt and his team for their excellent display during the match that gave them maximum points.
“We didn’t have a good start in the first half; we were very slow, and we came to the ball in the second half. Credit to SuperSport, they played to their strength and utilised the chances they got. That’s why they won the game,” Tembo added.
The loss sends the Polokwane outfit back to the drawing board following an impressive two-nil victory over Orlando Pirates earlier this week.
On the other hand, the Tshwane side is on a roller coaster ride. Matsatsantsa seems to have found their form this season. They’ve won five DStv Premiership matches in their last six encounters.
