Tempers flare at Moses Mabhida after explosive KZN derby

Tempers flared after Saturday’s KZN derby between AmaZulu and Royal AM at Moses Mabhida Stadium with AM’s officials and security guards involved in skirmishes.

The latest installment of the KZN derby between the two sides encompassed a whole lot of drama both on and off the field.

However, what came about off the screens after the match was worse than the tension that was on the pitch.

There was some kind of a scuffle between Royal AM officials and security officials.

According to one of the guards, Royal AM staff members tried to force their way into the area where they were allegedly not allowed to enter.

The two sides came to blows just after Thwihli Thwahla’s crew was prevented from going through.

It was then a lengthy fracas that was only put under control by the police who came in later to intervene.

ON THE FIELD DRAMA IN ROYAL AM AND AMAZULU CLASH

The tension between the two sides grew when AmaZulu were denied a goal and a penalty in the 53rd minute.

As usual, at times, both teams weren’t happy about refereeing decisions against them. One incident even triggered fight moments between two teams with both benches even coming into the field.

The match went to the break with a goalless scoreline on the scoreboard. And Royal AM came out with guns blazing and opened the scoring.

It was Ruzaigh Gamildien who haunted his former side Usuthu, putting AM in front in the 52nd minute.

Just a minute after the restart, Royal AM’s captain Samuel Manganyi appeared to have touched the ball with hand in the box but AmaZulu continued the play and scored.

The referee gave a goal but Hendrick Ekstein, who scored was adjudged to have been offside by the lineman.

However, Usuthu came back again and equalised through Bonginkosi Ntuli.
