The missing piece of the puzzle Orlando Pirates need to fire title charge

Orlando Pirates legend Edward ‘Magents’ Motale has revealed the missing puzzle that the Buccaneers need to connect to fire title charge.

Motale mentioned one of the Pirates’ significant weaknesses in the current season has been the lack of quality in front.

He reckons that the Sea Robbers need to be more clinical in the final third as they are able to create chances but fail to convert them.

Pirates currently sit fifth on the DStv Premiership table with 19 points after 13 games.

So far, Jose Riveiro’s charges have managed to score nine goals, while conceding seven in the league.

THE MISSING PIECE OF THE PUZZLE

“Look, they have not been playing well in the league. You look at the running order there are a lot of draws and losses,” Motale told FARPost.

“The missing puzzle is converting their opportunities. They get too many goalscoring opportunities but they don’t score.

“Hopefully when they come back from the FIFA break something will connect. Maybe if they can work on their scoring chances, something good can come out of it.”

MOTALE ON NDUMISO MABENA’S RETURN

Motale went on to say that the return of striker Ndumiso Mabena may come in handy but he is not sure about his fitness level and whether he will able to help Pirates to score the much-needed goals.

“Well, I’m not going to say that he is going to bring the solution to the club’s scoring problems because he is been off for a while,” he added.

“So, I’m not sure about his fitness, but I know he is a lethal striker. If he is fit he can do wonders because he is a good thinker.”

The Soweto giants will return back to action when they face Mamelodi Sundowns in a league match on Friday, 30 December at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

The kick-off is scheduled for 15:30.
