The only reason Chiefs will let go of Blom…
With Njabulo Blom’s future at Kaizer Chiefs still a sticking issue, the club’s football manager Bobby Motaung has revealed the only reason Amakhosi would let go of their academy graduate.
Blom has been in the news lately, with his agent Rob Moore claiming his client was being undermined.
Moore was referring to the player’s pay package as he edges closer to the end of his contract next year in June.
The Bafana Bafana utility player can sign a pre-contract with any team of his choice in January if there is no new deal on the table.
However, Motaung said they were still in negotiations for a new deal.
“Njabulo Blom is going nowhere. We are sorting out his situation without any noise. We heard the agent, but we are dealing with it alongside his family. He is our development player,” Motaung told Ukhozi FM.
THE RIGHT OFFER
Motaung is confident they will tie down Blom, who rose through their junior ranks. He believes the player will not be lured by any local suitors.
He added that the Soweto giants would not stand in the player’s way should he get a good overseas offer at any stage of his career.
“Blom is going nowhere unless it is an overseas move. We won’t stop him.
“As long as he is happy and the club is happy with the offer, he will leave for overseas,” he explained.
Blom made an impressive return to the line-up against SuperSport United last weekend, turning on a five-star performance in the heart of midfield.
Judging by coach Arthur Zwane’s praise for him after the game, he looks set to play more in that role this season.
The 22-year-old is one of Chiefs’ most successful development graduates in recent years.
Following his promotion in 2019 by Ernst Middendorp, he has risen to become a vital cog in the team.
