‘The show goes on with or without’, Mama Joy confirm Malesela’s departure

Prominent Royal AM supporter Mama Joy whose real name is Joy Chauke has sensationally confirmed the departure of co-coach Dan Malesela, barely three months at the club.

Malesela was shown the exit door by Marumo Gallants at the end of last season despite guiding the team to the Nedbank Cup final.

However, indications are that the former Chippa United mentor is set for a dramatic return to the Limpopo-based side.

DAN TO DANCE AT GALLANTS AGAIN?

He is set to take over the reins from departed coach Romain Folz who accused Gallants’ management of maladministration.

Several reports suggested that the 57-year-old tactician has left his post at Thwihli Thwahla to return to his former club.

The well-known supporter Mama Joy has spilled the beans on the coaching situation at the club, claiming that the former Orlando Pirates captain won’t be missed.

“It’s too early to say we will miss coach Dan Malesela; Royal AM show goes on with or without him,” tweeted Mama Joy.

“Good luck Thwihli Thwahla on the CAF game on Friday vs. Mbabane Swallows at Moses Mabhida stadium,” she added.

With Abram Sello-owned’s team seemingly struggling for form in the current DStv Premiership campaign, the club looks to have turned to former TS Galaxy coach to steer the team to the promised land.

Malesela joined the KZN-based side as a joint coach alongside Khabo Zondo during the off-season.

The duo had an inconsistent start to the 2022/23 season, which saw them win four games, draw one, and lose three times so far in the league.

AM was also knocked out of the MTN8 quarterfinals by the Buccaneers.

On the other side, Gallants have had a turbulent start to the new season and are still without a victory thus far; they’ve drawn six games and lost on one occasion in seven games played.

With no official word from either Royal AM or Marumo Gallants, it remains to be seen whether the South African-born mentor will rejoin his former employers or remain at his current club.
