The worrying factor that keeps Chiefs coach Zwane up at night
Kaizer Chiefs have only scored two goals in their last five matches
Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has revealed the worrying factor that keeps him up at night as his team continues to blow hot and cold this season.
Zwane’s men were held to a goalless draw by 10-man TS Galaxy in a DStv Premiership clash at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.
Chiefs failed to capitalise and take advantage as Galaxy defender Marks Munyai was given his marching orders after receiving a second yellow card for a dangerous foul on Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana in the 56th minute.
The Soweto giants threw everything but the kitchen sink at their host, but could not breach the resolute Rockets’ defence.
ARTHUR ZWANE’S BIG CONCERN
Zwane revealed that lack of goals is now becoming a concern as Chiefs create a lot of goal-scoring opportunities but fail to hit the target.
In their last five matches, the Soweto giants have only scored two goals, which is a major concern that keeps Zwane up at night.
“It’s a worrying factor that we did not score,” said Zwane in his SuperSport TV post-match interview.
“I thought maybe after scoring two goals in Polokwane we broke the ice; we will come here [Mbombela] at least get one.
“If we were clinical, we could at least have scored two or three goals going into halftime. Second half, we started very well, but we took the foot off the pedal when they were one man down.
“We thought the game was going to be easy, second half was not good enough, it could have been better. We piled a lot of pressure on them, made a few poor decision making inside the final third entry”
KEEPING A CLEANSHEET
Despite a disappointing result at Mbombela Stadium, Zwane was happy Chiefs didn’t concede.
This was Amakhosi’s second consecutive clean sheet after keeping one as well in the 2-0 win over Royal AM
“The good thing is we kept a cleansheet, but we could atleast got one goal out of the chances we created,” he added.
