Themba Zwane highlights where Mkhulise needs to improve his game

Mamelodi Sundowns playmaker Themba Zwane has signed out the area he feels his fellow teammate Sphelele Mkhulise needs to improve.

Zwane had a few words of encouragement for Mkhulise, whom he described as a ‘Bafana Bafana prospect’.

The Sundowns star, Zwane says Mkhulise must push on and improve the finishing aspect of his game.

Mkhulise has been struggling to find his place in the star-studded midfield of Sundowns for some time now.

The talented attacker has only made nine appearances in all competitions in Downs colours, scoring two goals.

However Zwane, who has been at Sundowns since 2014 after his loan spell from Mpumalanga Black Aces, battled to break into the Tshwane giants side earlier on in his career.

And as a senior to the 26-year-old Mkhulise, he had some few words of wisdom to share.

Zwane says it is encouraging that Mkhulise is showing willingness and desire to improve and make a difference for the Sundowns team.

THEMBA ZWANE’S WORDS OF WISDOM FOR MKHULISE

“The last time I was talking to him [Mkhulise], I said to him, ‘you know as a player, you need to look at yourself and be honest to yourself’. He is playing well,” said Zwane.”

“All that’s left is to score goals, to head more goals and be consistent, that’s all.”.

Zwane also believes that Mkhulise is one of the players that can carry the hopes of South Africans in a Bafana shirt by elevating the standard of the national team to new heights.

Mkhulise was part of the Bafana squad that won the 2021 COSAFA Cup. Five of the six appearances that Mkhulise made for SA were in the tournament.

With the season resuming in a couple of weeks, the Sundowns midfielder, Mkhulise will be looking to turn his fortunes around by adding more minutes and goals under his belt.
