Top agent evasive on Pirates-bound Cameroon striker Marou
Top agent, Mike Makaab of Prosport International has short on detail when he provided an update on the Orlando Pirates-bound Cameroonian striker Souaibou Marou.
Makaab is the representative of Marou, who is currently plying his trade in Cameroon’s top division league: Elite One for Coton Sport FC.
Marou has been a subject of speculation with various media reports suggesting that his move to Orlando Pirates is as good as done.
Marou, 22, was part of the Indomitable Lions’ squad that participated at the 2022 FIFA World Cup that was staged in Qatar.
However, his agent has poured cold water on the reports and insisted that the deal to Orlando Pirates is yet to be concluded.
According to Cameronian publication, Kick442, Marou will be unveiled as a Pirates player some time as week.
“Look I can tell you that nothing is complete as yet, but we are currently working on it,” Makaab briefly told FARPost.
WILL SOUAIBOU MAROU JOIN ORLANDO PIRATES?
Although the deal between the Soweto giants and Coton Sport over the signature of Marou was believed to have collapsed.
Indications are that the two clubs have opened talks for a fresh deal.
Makaab has said in the past that Pirates were unhappy with how Coton Sport officials leaked the financial principles of the deal to bring the lanky striker to the DStv Premiership.
The Buccaneers have been struggling in front of goal with their attackers firing blanks this season.
They only managed to score 13 goals in 16 league games this season.
Pirates have Zakhele Lepasa, Kermit Erasmus, Beinvenu Eva, Terrence Djuvukamanja, Evidence Makgopa and the newly signed Ndumiso Mabena in their striking force.
But it seems the club’s attackers are yet to find their goal scoring boots
The José Riviero-coached team already clinched the silverware this season as they beat AmaZulu 1-0 in the MTN8 final in Durban last year.
However, the Ghosts have seemingly struggled replicate the good form they have shown in th MTN8 before lifting the trophy.
The Houghton-based side have won six games in the league, drawn four, while losing six times. They are currently positioned in fifth place on the log standings with 22 points.
And with the club desperate to find a proven goal scorer, it remains to be seen if the Cameroonian forward will join Bucs camp.
