DStv Premiership

Truter bemoans ex-Chiefs player absence

AmaZulu coach Brandon Truter feels like the team will miss midfielder Keagan Buchanan’s presence, who is serving his suspension when they travel to TS Galaxy on Sunday for their opening DStv Premiership encounter.

He, however, is full of confidence to come out victorious because of the team’s squad depth and the quality of players they have in the team.

The 31-year-old has been key for Usuthu in the midfield last campaign. He made 27 appearances in all competitions scoring one goal and providing three assists in his first season with the club following a transfer from Maritzburg United.

“Keagan Buchanan is not available. Keegan is a top-quality player we would want to have available in order to start or come on in order to contribute to the team,” Truter told the club media.

“But we covered all over. We got quality in each and every position. His suspension doesn’t hurt us too much. Heading into the first game of the season, the former Swallows FC mentor believes the squad he’s assembled has all it takes to get maximum points.

The KZN outfit bolstered their squad by acquiring the services of George Maluleka, Dumisani Zuma, Ethan Brooks and Gabanhinho Mhango in the transfer market.

“It’s our first game. We want to start on a good positive note in terms of getting the three points. It’s an away game, but we feel in the squad we have the quality, we have the capabilities to challenge to win the game.”

“We are mindful about Galaxy; we’ve prepared well. There’s lots of excitement in the team. The confidence is high, and the only thing at the moment is the few niggles. To feel it away, we have to be at beast level, a stronger level to do duty. The depth of the level will be tested from the first game, but going into this game, I’m feeling confident and very much excited.”

“The confidence is high, the atmosphere, the unity is deep, and the boys are ready to go. It will be a good match, and I’m 100% certain we’ll get three points,” he added.

Kickoff at Bidvest Stadium is at 15h00.
