Truter outlines AmaZulu’s biggest challenge

AmaZulu FC coach Brandon Truter has identified the biggest challenge the club is facing, after losing to Chippa United on Saturday at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Usuthu has had a good start of 2022/23 season, playing some enterprising football, while scoring several goals.

However, there has been one big problem, which is not new to the team.

Complacency has been their weakness for years with recently star midfielder George Maluleka also mentioned it.

USUTHU’s CHALLENGE…

Usuthu have mastered the art of starting games well and win but when they come up against teams that are off form, they lose.

This season, they have lost two games that many believes they would easily won, against Golden Arrows and Chippa.

The shock defeat to Chippa left Truter disappointed and had to address the attitude of the players, which he wants to change.

He is of the view that there is a mentality problem in the club, which needs to change, if they serious about challenging Mamelodi Sundowns for the DStv Premiership title

“We get so emotional at times, frustrated and make poor decisions,” Truter told the media.

“So many things to work on, I keep on preaching about the mentality, the will to win and disrespecting opponents.

As the KwaZulu-Natal outfit look ahead of to the next encounter against Sundowns on Sunday, Truter made it clear that something must change.

The players need to adopt a new attitude and understand how to deal with the perks of having good run.

“Our reaction must change, there’s lot of things we need to do better, our mindset and how we do things when under pressure,” he added.

“We cannot be losing our emotions to easily and cannot keep on going with this attitude, something must change, we can do better in our next game.

“We have so many experienced players. This calls for shake up, we are playing against Mamelodi Sundowns next, we need players with BMT [big match temperatures], this cannot go on for too long,” concluded the AmaZulu tactician.
