‘We don’t fear Pirates,’ says VFA coach before crunch Nedbank Cup clash
"We have no fear because it's 11 v 11."
Venda Football Academy [VFA] coach Joel Masutha insists there is no fear from his side ahead of Saturday’s Nedbank Cup showdown against Orlando Pirates.
VFA will face Pirates at Orlando Stadium in a Nedbank Cup round of 16 clash in which will be the first official PSL meeting between the two clubs.
The Motsepe Foundation Championship side, VFA, beat FC Black Cross of the ABC Motsepe Motsepe League in the last 32. The Buccaneers, on the other hand, eliminated second-tier league outfit All Stars.
VFA appear to be in a confident mood as they prepare for their date with the tournament’s eight-time winners.
NO FEAR VFA AS THEY FACE ORLANDO PIRATES
Masutha has emphasised that fear will not be shown to the Buccaneers in their own turf in Soweto.
“We know we are playing a big and a good team, but we have no fear because it’s 11 v 11,” Masutha told FARPost.
“Obviously, we are going there knowing what to expect from Pirates because they have also been doing good lately. It will be nice to play with a team of their calibre.”
VFA PLAYERS FULL OF CONFIDENCE AHEAD OF NEDBANK CUP TIE
After their midweek 1-1 draw against Casric Stars in the league match, Masutha is confident that his players had enough time to prepare for the match.
“We have been working hard at training, and our players are confident ahead of this much expected match,” he added.
“We can’t say they will beat us, we go out there [Orlando Stadium] to face them as 11 v 11, there is no fear, to be honest. And obviously, it will be nice to play against a big team in front of many fans.”
The much-anticipated Nedbank game is set to start at 8:00pm.
