Why Gabadinho Mhango is AmaZulu’s best catch so far

AmaZulu have given detailed statistics which prove beyond doubt that striker Gabadinho Mhango is their best catch so far.

The statistics show that Mhango is AmaZulu’s overall leading scorer in the DStv Premiership this campaign.

The former Orlando Pirates star, Mhango scored five goals across all competitions going into the DStv Premiership break.

Four of Mhango’s goals came in the DStv Premiership with one being from the MTN8

“Gabadinho Mhango leads the way for AmaZulu as far as goal scorers in the 2022-23 season are concerned, with the Malawian having netted five times across all competitions,” AmaZulu website reads.

“Mhango’s five goals have come from 13 appearances (entailing 1093 minutes of playing time) across the Premiership and MTN8, averaging out at almost 219 minutes of play per goal scored.”

The Malawian’s goal in one-all draw with Kaizer Chiefs steered the Durban-based side to the MTN8 final, which they eventually lost 1-0 to Pirates.

MHANGO’S TALLY SURPASSES THAT OF LAST SEASON

The Flames striker’s overall tally this season has come from 13 games in all competitions.

Therefore, the former Bidvest Wits forward has surpassed the overall three goals he registered with the Buccaneers last campaign.

Mhango started this season on fire, netting in three consecutive games against SuperSport United, Cape Town City and Swallows.

FIVE GOALS IN 13 GAMES ACROSS ALL COMPETITIONS

It was his best tally ever in his Premier Soccer League (PSL) career bettering the five goals he chalked in 15 matches while on loan at Golden Arrows.

The 30-year-old has scored 64 goals in 213 games since 2013 when he first arrived in South Africa to sign for Bloemfontein Celtic.

AmaZulu said the only player who has come closer to Mhango is striker partner Augustine Kwem.

The Nigerian has found the back of the net twice, one goal each in league and MTN8 match.
