Will stadium saga dent Marumo’s relationship with Polokwane municipality? Sello answers

Following the dismissal of the urgent court application by the Polokwane municipality at the Limpopo High Court on Friday, Marumo Gallants chairman Abram Sello has since opened up about their relationship with the municipality.

The chairman reckons the relationship between the two parties is still in good standing despite the court battle which dragged on for about two weeks.

The municipality had applied for an urgent court application to interdict the DStv Premiership match between Marumo and Kaizer Chiefs.

This comes after Bahlabane Ba Ntwa decided to move their league clash against Amakhosi to Royal Bafokeng Stadium. The game was initially scheduled to take place at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday, 11 September 2022.

When the chairman was asked about their relationship with the municipality after the whole saga, he said: “We have a very bright future.”

“I think even my colleagues are happy to have opened this gate today so that we can talk.

“The contract was very oppressive being in a partnership of some sort but not the existing partnership.”

SELLO ON THE TICKETS SALE

The Marumo boss went on to say that the tickets for their encounter with the Soweto giants are selling like hot cookies.

“If I tell you the number of the tickets now you gonna collapse, there are more tickets. And I’m not bragging anyhow about this thing,” Sello told journalists in Polokwane.

“The most painful thing was selling those tickets to our football lovers and they bounce back and don’t see the game. That’s what pained me worse.

“I’m not undermining my supporters. Remember Marumo Gallants are like any other team nationally like Chiefs they move around, taking their games to the people. So, why can’t we move around as well and try to strengthen our club.”

The side is currently placed 15th on the log standings with five points after six outings.
