Williams explains Sundowns’ success and dominance
Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has explained why the club have been so dominant and successful in the recent seasons.
Masandawana have become a giant in the PSL, winning the DStv Premiership six times in a row. Last season they completed a treble, winning all the trophies in the South African topflight.
Williams who just linked with the Tshwane giants in the transfer window says the way Sundowns do things background is on a different level. He praised the work that is done by the technical team behind the scenes.
WHAT WILLIAMS HAD TO SAY
“The technical team are the reason why everyone wants to beat Sundowns because of the legacy and the trophies they won. It’s a challenge to uphold that each and everyday.
Any points dropped people are going to talk, they want to bring you down and they want to bring Sundowns down, we shouldn’t allow that to happen,” said Williams on MSW.
“Just the mentality of how they do things, how serious they are, once we walk in there we have a meeting each and everyday watching clips of ourselves of the previous game.
“Everyday they want to be better, they want more, they want to become a better team. It’s amazing, the work that they put in, the coaches don’t sleep as well as the analysts.
They discover new things in the middle of the night.
That shows the passion they got for the club, they are always looking for what’s next, what’s there to improve and what trends are out there.”
Williams further believes the outfit is a big club in South Africa. This is mainly because of the success the club have had in a few years.
“I feel it is [a big club], the way they do things it’s different level. It’s something different to what I’ve experienced in my career, I can see why they are the champs.
“Sundowns have been successful for many years, but they are always looking for the next one, they don’t even speak of what happened last year. They want to add to what they have got, that’s the mentality I got as well,” Williams added.
