Kaizer Chiefs mentor Arthur Zwane says he is not concerned by the poor form of the former Mamelodi Sundowns duo of Keagan Dolly and Khama Billiat. According to him, it is too early in the season to start panicking.
The duo have not lightened up since the start of the season as they are firing blanks leading Amakhosi in attack.
In five DStv Premiership matches that have been played, Dolly has found the back of the net once whilst Billiat has only provided two assists.
“I’m not really concerned. It’s still early in the season. You can only judge them at the end of the season. Might be the case at the start, but at the end of the day, we need them. They are one of our key players. We need them on the field,” Zwane told the media.
“Last season, they had a very crucial role in helping the team collect maximum points in second games. We can’t judge them on what’s happening right now.”
“Against Maritzburg United, Keagan [Dolly] scored, and Khama [Billiat] had some assist. He played very well. We still have a long way to go.”
The 48-year-old is confident the two former Mamelodi Sundowns stars will regain their form, turn the corner and start scoring goals for the Soweto giants.
“I know they will come back. We will help them mentally and psychologically because that’s our job as coaches. Any player can lose form, two games, three games, but that doesn’t mean that any player has lost form altogether or is not good enough to play for Kaizer Chiefs,” Zwane added.
With new signings, Ashley Du Preez and Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, still unavailable for the MTN8 quarter-final clash against Stellenbosch on Sunday due to injury and work permit issues. Billiat and Dolly are expected to lead the team’s attack.
