Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has pinpointed key areas his troops focused on during the FIFA international break.
Chiefs return to action on Sunday afternoon against AmaZulu in the MTN8 semi-final at FNB Stadium.
Despite winning their last match against SuperSport United 2-1 in the DStv Premiership before the break, Zwane stressed that the team had to focus on being solid in defence.
“Looking at how we’ve been conceding goals, the defence was number one on the list,” Zwane told the media at Naturena.

“We just need to make sure that we fix ourselves; I think when you look at the goals that we conceded, 80% of those goals we gave opponents a chance to punish us.”
“They did not win the ball from us; we just made elementary mistakes which is part of the game,”
“If we can minimise those mistakes, I think we’ll get better with time because we look like scoring when we bring our A-game.”
Amakhosi have conceded nine goals in eight league games, a statistic which worries Zwane.
“Of course, there’s a lot of things we need to work on because we are in the building process,” he said.
“We just need to do a lot of repetition just to make sure everyone is on board and understands what is required of them.
Amakhosi have had an inconsistent start to the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season under the guidance of Zwane.
The Glamour Boys only managed to win three games, drawing two and losing on three occasions in the league.
Chiefs have not claimed silverware in eight years and will be looking to take advantage when they face Usuthu in the first leg of MTN8 on Sunday. Kickoff is at 15:30.
