Makhubela not fazed ahead of Netherlands tie

Newly signed Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies player Tiisetso Makhubela has vowed that Banyana Banyana will throw everything at the Netherlands when the two sides clash in a high profile friendly match on Tuesday.

The Orange Lionesses are ranked fifth in the Fifa World rankings while Banyana are 57th, but Makhubela is convinced they are well-prepared to tackle their highly rated hosts.

The 24-year-old defender said they would play the game with one eye on the preparations for the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) to be hosted in Morocco in July.

“I feel so excited to be part of the national team just weeks after joining the Masandawana family,” said Makhubela, who scored seven goals last season.

“The game against the Netherlands will provide us with the much-needed opportunity to test our strength against one of the world’s best women’s teams.”

The former Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Ladies defender also stated that all is set, and they are ready for battle.

“The mood in the camp is high, and we are ready for the game,” she added.
