Mbatha ‘excited’ about Sasol League resumption

The 2022 Sasol League resumes on Saturday in all nine provinces and Nozipho Mbatha, Senior Manager; Group Brand and Sponsorships at Sasol echoed the views of fans across the country when she expressed her excitement ahead of the new season.

Clubs will be playing week in and week out, as they contest for their respective provincial titles honours.

The South African football semi-professional women’s league gives over 3600 female footballers the opportunity to participate in regular competitive football throughout the year.

The league comprises 16 teams in each province, with games played in two streams of eight teams each.

Sasol in partnership with the South African Football Association (Safa) vows to work hard to ensure the campaign remains on track and runs smoothly.

“We are truly excited about the resumption of the Sasol League, a platform that allows women footballers from all the provinces to show off their capabilities, by participating in regular competitive football and to broaden the talent pool for the women’s national teams,” said Mbatha.

“Many of these players will also be discovered to represent South Africa at international football levels”.

As things stand, approximately 3800 players have registered to participate in the 2022 Sasol League.
