Mbule reveals Sundowns stars he grew up idolising

Mamelodi Sundowns’ new signing Sipho Mbule has revealed the club’s ex-stars he grew up idolising.

The former SuperSport star starts life at the Brazilians after switching from his boyhood club last week. He has since picked the quartet of Koketso Mmotong, Teko Modise, Surprise Moriri and Katlego Mphela as his favourites, although he singled out Modise as his best.

“I started watching Sundowns when I was very young; I think I started watching Sundowns in the era of Koketso Mmotong, Teko Modise, Surprise Moriri. I supported them once, and they have been doing well also. They made me love football; I fell in love with football,” Mbule told Sundowns’ media.

“Growing up, I’ve been a kid who loved football; I never had time to do other sport. I’ve always been into football, and I watched football. The legend that kept me going is Teko Modise.”
The 24-year-old revealed his desire to win more trophies with Masandawana after clinching two trophies with Matsatsantsa.

“Winning a trophy is a nice thing, a nice feeling, an achievement that you can look up to at the end of the day. I won two with SuperSport, the MTN8 and lost in the CAF Confederation Final. I think coming here to Sundowns; I’m going to add to my tally.

“Sundowns is a team that dominated over the years. They have good players and are competing at the highest level. I played CAF with SuperSport United, but we didn’t qualify for next season. I felt like I could do more with Sundowns, and I want to win trophies.”

Mbule also can’t wait to link up with his new teammates so that he can showcase his skills and talent on the field.

“I’m looking forward to playing with everyone. They have the best players and are looking for the best players. What I’m bringing to Sundowns is a talent they saw at SuperSport. The Sipho they know, the Sipho they saw. I think the Sipho they know will fit well at Sundowns. They have technically good players, and I think I’m technically a good option,” he concluded.
