Mosimane’s ‘successor’ eyeing coveted league title

Samy Komsan, the Al Ahly interim manager, has vowed that he is eyeing the coveted league title.

Komsam guided Ahly to a 4-1 win over Eastern Company in his first game in charge after temporarily replacing Pitso Mosimane. He praised the players for turning on a satisfactory performance in the domestic league tie played on Wednesday.

He believes the league title is within their reach as they trail rivals Zamalek, whom they play on Sunday, by four points with three games in hand.

“I would like to thank all the players for their excellent performance tonight. They played with Al Ahly’s character and always knew how to deal with difficult circumstances.

“We are all focused on winning the league title this season. We are keen to win every game this season, and we aim to achieve the victory over Zamalek in the next match.”

“Winning the match with a good result is a positive thing to achieve. However, we achieved many big results this season and are keen to win more.”

“Finally, I would like to thank Al Ahly fans for their precious and constant support.”

Mohamed Sharaf is assisting the little-known Kosman on an interim basis. The 46-year-old coach will add a second assistant coach to his technical team after being given the go-ahead by Al Ahly Football Company and the planning committee.

Michel Lannacone will continue his role as a goalkeeper coach after being in the same position under the three-time CAF Champions League-winning coach Mosimane.
