Black Leopards tracking Dynamos defender

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Black Leopards is reportedly angling to acquire the services of Dynamos centre-back Frank Makarati.

The 28-year-old was one of the outstanding central defenders in Zimbabwe during the just-ended 2021/22 season.

In fact, he is one of the two defenders that made the cut into the season’s best eleven.

Makarati’s contract with Dynamos is set to expire on 31 December. And as it stands, the Harare giants are yet to seal a contract extension deal with the player.

Locally, Makarati has also attracted interest from Chicken Inn under the mentorship of former AmaZulu gaffer Joey Antipas.

The former Ngezi Platinum Stars captain has also been linked with newly promoted side Simba Bhora who are reinforcing their team ahead of the 2023 season.

Elsewhere, Zambian Super League side Green Buffaloes and Singida FC of Tanzania have made inquiries about his availability.

DYNAMOS LOOKING AT OFFERS

His manager Trust Nyambiya said: “We are still weighing offers; we are in talks with Dynamos, but everything depends on how negotiations turn out.

“We have two other teams from South Africa who want him, but at this point, we don’t want to jeopardise negotiations.

“Chicken Inn and Simba Bhora are also interested in Frank Makarati as well as two clubs from outside the country, Green Buffaloes of Zambia and Singida of Tanzania,” he said.

For Dynamos, Makarati scored four goals throughout the season and was four goals behind the club’s top goal-scorer Emmanuel Paga.

Dynamos recently parted ways with coach Tonderai Ndiraya in a development that is also likely to trigger a massive exodus of players ahead of the next season.

Partson Jaure, formerly with the University of Pretoria and Godknows Murwira, have been linked with a move away from the club.

Three West Africans in the team, Albert Eonde, Martin Ofori and Alex Orotomal, are also set to be offloaded, having contributed just two goals throughout the campaign.
