Casric Stars regain pole position as Baroka return to winning ways
Casric Stars regained pole position in the Motsepe Foundation Championship title race as Baroka bounced back to winning ways.
Casric Stars moved to the summit of the National First Division table after beating JDR Stars 2-1 at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Saturday 25th of February.
The Mpumalanga-based side bounced back to claim maximum points after playing to a 1-1 draw against Platinum City Rovers.
BAROKA BOUNCE BACK TO WINNING WAYS
Elsewhere, Baroka returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over University of Pretoria(AmaTuks) at Global Stadium.
Baroka recovered from a 2-0 defeat against KwaZulu Natal-based outfit Uthongathi at Princess Magogo Stadium midweek.
AmaTuks’ defeat was the second successive loss after a 1-0 defeat against Magesi at Tuks Stadium on Wednesday, 22 February.
The Tlisane Motaung-coached club, tipped as favourites at the start of the season, have stumbled in the NFD title race after a poor run of form.
AmaTuks have won seven games, drawn seven and lost six times after 20 games played. They are currently positioned seventh on the championship table.
Meanwhile, Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila moved into the relegation zone after playing to a goalless draw against NB La Masia.
TTM, who recently moved to Bloemfontein, are winless in their last eight league encounters, with their last win dating back to November 2022 against Cape Town Spurs.
They have won five games, drew three and lost 12 times after 20 games played.
Cape Town Spurs moved level on points with second-placed Polokwane City on 40 points after brushing aside Black Leopards 2-1 at Athlone Stadium.
On the other hand, Polokwane City’s title aspirations suffered a blow after they lost 2-1 to Hungry Lions at Windhoek Draught Park on Sunday.
