PSL promotion race: Who the top three contenders face
The hotly contested race for PSL promotion between Polokwane City, Cape Town Spurs and Casric Stars looks set for a photo-finish.
Four rounds of matches remain before the Motsepe Foundation Championship curtain goes down.
And the top three teams Polokwane City FC, Cape Town Spurs and Casric Stars are tied on 50 points.
Polokwane City FC, however, lead because of a superior goal difference albeit, with any of the three teams having equal chance to the the PSL promotion ticket.
Only one team can be promoted, with the other two having another shot at the PSL promotion ticket in the play-offs.
WHO THE PSL HOPEFULS FACE IN THE FINAL FOUR MATCHES
What makes the race more intriguing is that whenever another team takes a giant stride forward, the other two follow suit.
Perhaps it will continue until the contest draws to a dramatic climax, where only one team will emerge as victors.
Intrestingly, they will not face each other in this home-stretch, with fixtures returning after the Nedbank quarter-finals.
On paper, Polokwane City FC have a taxing schedule as they face JDR Stars, Uthongathi, Platinum City Rovers and Pretoria Callies.
What perhaps gives them confidence is the fact that they picked eight points out of a possible 12 in the first leg against the quartet.
They beat JDR Stars 2-1 in the first leg and they will hope to complete a double next weekend.
And they also beat Pretoria Callies but were held to draws by Uthongathi and Platinum City Rovers.
WHAT SHAUN BARTLETT FACES
Cape Town Spurs who beat Casric Stars in their most recent match will hope to maintain the blistering form.
The Shaun Bartlett-coached side face Platinum City Rovers, Venda FC, La Masia and University of Pretoria.
It’s not hard to imagine Cape Town Spurs grabbing the only PSL promotion ticket, if they keep the fine form.
In the reverse fixtures, Shaun Bartlett’s beat three of their last four opponents. They drew 1-1 with Platinum City Rovers who they face on 21 April.
And they beat Venda FC, La Masia and University of Pretoria. They scored seven goals in the four matches while conceding three times.

Casric Stars will hope to complete a double over University of Pretoria and Pretoria Callies.
They beat the two sides on a 2-1 scoreline before being held to a 1-1 draw by Venda FC. They also drew 0-0 with All Stars.
To sustain their bid for promotion, Casric will have to win all four games, starting with a win at home against AmaTuks on 22 April.
