Shaun Bartlett’s words of wisdom to Pirates’ loanee Boitumelo Radiopane

Cape Town Spurs head coach Shaun Bartlett has revealed some of his conversations with Orlando Pirates’ loanee Boitumelo Radiopane.

Radiopane has been tipped as one of the future prospects of South African Football. The 21-year-old is on a season-long loan at the Motsepe Foundation Championship side, CT Spurs from Pirates.

Following a slow start into his stint in Cape Town, Radiopane seems to have found his touch in recent matches. He has not only scored two goals this year but has had some decent performances for the club.

WHAT SHAUN BARTLETT TOLD BOITUMELO RADIOPANE

“I keep reassuring him that he is a top quality player. This is part of his learning curve, that’s the reason why Pirates sent him here and not to play in a Diski Challenge,” Bartlett told the media.

“This is a much more comparative league, this is where he will toughen up. I believe this is where he will know what quality he has and what he needs to work on and he is very grounded.

“I think that’s the one thing obviously that makes him a good player. He is grounded and humble and as long as he has those attributes as a striker also the aggression on the field will come.”

ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE ORLANDO PIRATES LOANEE BANGS GOALS

The Bafana Bafana legend and former lethal striker has backed Radiopane to find his goal-scoring boots in the league, as he has the potential.

The young striker walked away with DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) reserve league Golden Boot with 23 goals last season in Pirates colours.

“He is an unbelievable quality player. He is still very young so he has got a lot to learn. We just make sure everyday lime I keep saying to him ‘your main goal is to be better than the day before as a professional’ and that’s what he is doing,” added Bartlett.

“He worked on the little things (against Polokwane City). His work rate for us was unbelievable, and he helps the team from a defending point of view.

“It’s a matter of time, he knows he can score more goals getting into certain positions. But today he worked for the team to get the results.”

Spurs are serious contenders for promotion to the DStv Premiership. They currently sit in third position in the second-tier league with 13 matches remaining.
