Upington City confirm Brandon Truter’s appointment

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Upington City FC have confirmed the appointment of Brandon Truter, who joins the club’s technical team with immediate effect.

The former AmaZulu FC mentor has been without a club since cutting ties with Limpopo-based outfit Sekhukhune United in November 2023. This morning, FARPost reported that Truter is set for a PSL return. This comes after his sabbatical leave since his departure from Sekhukhune.

The Northern Cape club stated that this appointment is part of their ongoing effort to “strengthen team dynamics and harness innovative strategies for the upcoming seasons.”

Truter comes highly recommended as he guided Babina Noko to their first top-eight finish, the Nedbank Cup final, which led the team to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup.

‘Brakkies’, as he’s popularly known within the football circles, also helped Moroka Swallows gain promotion to the DStv Premiership in the 2019/20 season. The Dube Birds defeated third-placed Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila [TTM] 3–0 in the playoffs.
