Pirates striker seeking loan exit

An Orlando Pirates forward is seeking a short-term exit away from the Soweto giants.

Bucs striker Tshegofatso Mabasa looks unlikely to get game time next season after the club brought in Eva Nga and Evidence Makgopa from Chippa United and relegated Baroka.

FARPost can confirm that Mabasa is on Cape Town City’s radar, with the player considering the switch.

The Citizens are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of their dance in Caf Champions League, a platform which could benefit the former Bloemfontein Celtic striker. He scored three goals last season, coming off the bench most of the time.

The Buccaneers have so far confirmed the departures of seven players, having already welcomed Nkosinathi Sibisi, Tapelo Xoki, Miguel Timm, Eva Nga, Evidence Makgopa and Azola Matrose as they again look to challenge for titles.

But they are likely to do that without Mabasa, who has fallen down the pecking order of forwards at the club, and the arrival of Makgopa and Nga doesn’t do his hopes of nailing a regular berth any favours.
