SAFA clears Ledwaba, Mohlabeng and Jordaan to contest for presidency

It’s all systems go after the South African Football Association’s (SAFA) governance committee revealed the names of the candidates eligible to contest for the association’s Presidency.

Four candidates were nominated by various regions for local football’s top position subject to them being screened by the newly formed committee.

During a media briefing held at the SAFA house in Johannesburg on Monday, the organisation’s CEO Tebogo Motlanthe revealed the names of Ria Ledwaba, Solly Mohlabeng and Dr Danny Jordaan as the three candidates who qualify to contest on 25 June 2022.

Ledwaba and Mohlabeng will be looking to challenge the incumbent Dr Jordaan who is seeking for a third term.

The three will have 19 days to lobby the 52 regions across the country including assosicate members and NEC members who are eligible to vote.

Senior Director University of Johannesburg Sport Bureau Nomsa Mahlangu was the only candidate who did not make it after vetting.
