Tanzania giants complete signing of ex-Chiefs player

Dar es Salaam giants Young Africans just need two points to wrest the league title from bitter rivals Simba SC with four games before the curtain comes down on the Tanzania Premier League.

The title tilt puts an end to Simba’s dominance, having won it successively since 2017 – translating to four on the trot.

It means Young Africans will likely play continental football next season and they have started preparing.

Yanga have won the race to sign former Kaizer Chiefs forward Lazarous Kambole on a two-year deal, FARPost can exclusively reveal.

“We have completed the signing of Lazarous Kambole, he’s going to be our player for the next two seasons. All the terms are agreed subject to a medical and him signing a contract when he comes here. We expect him to land in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday so that we conclude everything,” chairman of the Young Africans signing committee, Eng. Hersi Ally Said, confirmed to FARPost.

The DStv Premiership giants, Chiefs, recently released the Zambian international, and this publication this week reported there was interest from two clubs.

His former club Zesco of Zambia, were keen on his signature, tussling for it with the Tanzanian giants.

Kambole arrived at Chiefs in 2019, having set the record for the fastest hattrick while playing for Zesco the previous year.

However, he struggled for game time at Amakhosi and will be hoping to resuscitate his career in the Tanzanian topflight.

This is not the first time Yanga have chased the signature of the 28-year-old forward. They came close to signing the centre-forward last year.
