Andile Jali’s stance on Sundowns, Chiefs and Pirates revealed

Andile Jali’s stance on his exit from Mamelodi Sundowns has been revealed by his agent Mike Makaab.

Makaab was addressing several issues around his client on Simtho Dladla’s Gagasi FM show on Friday.

He said the clubs interested in the talented defensive midfielder “may include Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates”.

FARPost this week reported there was interest in the 33-year-old from DStv Premiership outfit Stellenbosch FC. Makaab said they were yet to FORMALLY engage any club as they look to conclude the Sundowns episode first.

ANDILE JALI’S STANCE REVEALED

“We have not engaged with any club formally regarding Andile Jali’s services. AJ and I have both agreed that once we have finalised the situation at Mamelodi Sundowns and Andile has settled that chapter of his life, we will then be looking at opportunities,” Makaab said.

Jail was suspended by Sundowns after arriving in training drunk in February. Since then, the player has not set foot in training at Chloorkop.

His contract comes to an end in June, and the writing is on the wall that it won’t be extended. Makaab has since hinted that interested clubs may include big guns such as Chiefs and his former club Pirates.

“Of course, we will talk to teams that are interested, and those teams may include Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. But it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s gonna be restricted to those two teams in South Africa,” added the revered agent.

ENTERTAINING OVERSEAS OFFERS

He went on to hint that they would also be entertaining offers from overseas. “We’ll also be looking for teams for Andile abroad. In actual fact, we’ve already started the process.”

He stressed that while they were engaging clubs at this point, they made sure nothing was formal until the Sundowns chapter is closed.

“But again, we don’t want to have any formal discussions until we have finalised the arrangement with Mamelodi Sundowns. We have to show respect to the football club that has his contract,” said Makaab.

He further admitted that the “likelihood of Andile ever playing for Sundowns again is minimal”.

“It’s highly unlikely. Andile has asked me to ensure that we respect his situation at Sundowns and that we finalise his exit from Sundowns prior to us engaging with any other football club.”

Makaab also gave timelines as to when they look to conclude with Sundowns and start negotiations for Jali’s next deal.

“That has to happen sooner than later, and I am confident that it’ll happen within the next week or maximum, two so that during the month of May, we will be in a position to start seriously engaging clubs regarding his services for the next season.”
