Another PSL club joins race for Dan Malesela
Dan ‘Dance’ Malesela has part company with Royal AM, and indications are that another PSL side has joined in the race for his signature.
Malesela was not at Moses Mabhida Stadium for Royal AM’s second leg CAF Confederation Cup tie against Eswatini giants Mbabane Highlanders on Friday afternoon.
Royal AM welcomed the Mbabane outfit in Durban for the reverse preliminary round fixture.
However, Malesela, who watched the game from the terraces last week alongside co-coach Khabo Zondo, was nowhere to be seen.
DAN DANCE IN-DEMAND…
He is reportedly on the radar of Marumo Gallants, whose management he met this week.
FARPost can reveal that another of his former employers, Chippa Mpengesi, has entered the race for his signature.
“Chippa wants him back and is courting him to rejoin them. But he’s aware there’s interest from Marumo as well. So it could go either way,” a source told FARPost.
Malesela has previously had four stints with Chippa United, but they were all short.
His longest stay with them was 505 days, which was his first time in charge of the team in the 2015/16 season.
Chippa replaced Daine Klate with veteran administrator Morgan Mammila recently after just seven games.
Mammila, who had to quit All Stars to rejoin the Chilli Boys, is currently holding fort as head coach while the club searches for a long-term replacement.
In Limpopo, Marumo are also eager to replace Romain Folz, who is at loggerheads with management over interference.
The Frenchman joined the club during pre-season but recently fell off with management after five games.
The 33-year-old shed light on what transpired, revealing that the club bosses forced him to change a line up on the eve of a match.
The former Township Rollers coach refused, opting to walk away ahead of their game against Swallows a fortnight ago.
