Arthur Zwane: ‘I don’t tolerate nonsense’

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has opened up on how he has helped youngsters realise their dreams from junior ranks at Naturena.

Prior to managing the senior team, the 49-year-old tactician was working at the club’s academy.

Zwane has mentored a number of players that have gone on to become the senior team’s regulars.

Moreover, Njabulo Blom, who was identified by him in the Soweto local leagues at the age of 15, recently jetted off to greener pastures overseas.

The 22-year-old signed for MLS side St. Louis City SC in December last year.

Among the notable names that have made it from the academy under his guidance: Blom, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Siyabonga Ngezana, Mduduzi Shabalala, Happy Mashiane, and Samkelo Zwane.

Zwane says being a “disciplinarian” has been key for him in developing players for the Glamour Boys.

ARTHUR ZWANE: ‘I DON’T TOLERATE NONSENSE’

“It’s simple, me I’m a disciplinarian and I don’t tolerate nonsense,” he said.

“At the same time, I give credit and give them boost and also make sure that they do the right things.

“Hence, I’ve alluded to the situation of Reeve [Frosler], in terms of the injury, he’s been out.

“He’s been off, when you look at him, how he came back and gave his best. And he did wonders today, we didn’t have a problem.

“I was not even worried Solly came to training on Thursday sick. I knew that we have Reeve ready and we still have cover from Zitha. We can always improvise like we’ve done in the past.

“So, it goes down to one thing, discipline. If you want to make it big in life.

“If you want to do good things in life, you want people to respect you and the game to respect you and reward you, you have to be disciplined.”
