Du Preez outlines his Bafana Bafana ambitions
Kaizer Chiefs attacker Ashley Du Preez has outlined his ambitions for Bafana Bafana after receiving his maiden call-up.
Du Preez joined the Bafana camp as a replacement for the injured Lyle Foster, who was withdrawn from the squad after sustaining an injury.
Despite having a slow start at Chiefs, the 25-year-old attacker has been entrusted with the role of representing the national team.
However, he has shown a glimpse of his potential and the form that saw the Soweto giants sign him from Stellenbosch.
WHAT THE CALL-UP MEANS TO DU PREEZ
“I was at practice with Chiefs, and on my way home, I received a call,” Du Preez told SAFA media.
“I don’t have words to explain the feeling, and I was overwhelmed as I wanted this opportunity.
“And it’s here now, so I’ll grab it with both hands and make sure I enjoy every moment.
“As a young player watching Bafana Bafana back then and there were amazing things, the way they played, now that I’m here, I want to do the same.
The Amakhosi star added: “It all goes to the feeling, you had that moment as a kid, and now it’s in the present.
“You have that moment, you can express and show the world what you capable of doing.
“I think every player wants to make their mark and show everyone what they’re capable of doing, and that’s exactly what I want to do.
“I want to express the talent I have, and I want to make a mark, as I said earlier show the world what Ashley Du Preez is capable of doing,” added Du Preez.
The speedy forward joined Chiefs from Stellies after scoring nine goals and contributing two assists for Steve Barker’s side last season.
Du Preez has so far scored one goal and made one assist in five appearances for Amakhosi in the 2022/23 campaign.
