Five coaching casualties in the DStv Premiership

Only 10 games have been played in the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season, but there have been five coaching casualties.

FARPost looks at coaches who have been shown the exit door:

Daine Klate

Klate, who is relatively inexperienced in the top flight football, was appointed Chippa United head coach at the start on the new season.

The former Orlando Pirates star was in the dugout for the DStv Diski Challenge team before he was rewarded with the first team contract.

Despite the chairman Siviwe Mpengesi publicly promising to give Klate all the necessary support to be successful, the 37-year old mentor was fired barely three months in charge of the Chilli Boys.

Dylan Kerr

The former Black Leopards tactician missed the better part of the new campaign because of the delays with securing the work permit.

Musa Nyatama served as a stand in coach for Swallows while Kerr awaited his permit.

With the Dobsonville-based outfit struggled to hit the upper gear, the 55-year old coach was relieved off his duties.

Romain Folz

Marumo Gallants pulled the trigger on Folz after a slow start to the season.

The 32-year old accused Gallants management for maladministration upon parting company with the club.

He has since resurfaced at AmaZulu where he replaced Brandon Truter.

Dan Malesela

Malesela left Royal AM to rejoin Gallants after he was fired at the end of last season despite guiding the team to the Nedbank Cup final.

AmaZulu were tipped to challenge for silverware in the current campaign given the high-profile signings they made.

Usuthu have had an inconsistent start to the season and recently suffered a shock defeat to PSL newbies Richards Bay, results which many would perhaps agree they lowered Truter’s coffin.

Only three teams in the Premiership are still with the coaches they started with last season.

Stellenbosch [Steve Barker], Cape Town City [Eric Tinker] and Mamelodi Sundowns [Manqoba Mngqithi and Rhulani Mokwena].
