Ex-Kaizer Chiefs striker brokers Rafinha’s transfer from PSG
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker-turned-agent Matthew Rusike has made a giant leap in his new career after brokering Rafinha’s transfer from PSG to Qatar’s Al Arabi FC.
Rafinha’s switch is one of the major transfers that the former Zimbabwean international has facilitated under the player management firm he runs with his partner.
Little wonder, the former Cape Town City forward said he was happy to have contributed to the successful transfer of the former Barcelona star from the French Ligue 1 giants.
“Happy to have assisted the deal for Rafinha from @PSG_English to Arabi in Qatar,” the 32-year-old tweeted.
Rafinha has signed for the Qatari side on a two-year contract as a free agent after the French champions decided to release the Brazilian from his contract.
In an interview, Rusike said he has made a seamless transition from a playing career into an intermediary.
“I have been an agent for the last three years and managed 40 players with a partner of mine,” he told FARPost.
He did not go into details, but the internet record shows that Rusike is part of BHM Sports Management based in Stockholm, Sweden.
The Zimbabwean started off his career with Charlton Athletics FC in England before returning home for a stint at Monomotapa FC.
Rusike played for PSL clubs such as University of Pretoria and Jomo Cosmos where he won Ezenkozi Player of the Year 2011/12 before making a breakthrough when he signed for Amakhosi in the year 2012.
Rusike spent three productive years at Chiefs, then he went on to have a stint with then newly-born Cape Town City.
The now retired striker also played for Club Africain in Tunisia and Helsingborgs IF in Sweden.
The eight-time capped Warriors forward last played club football for Stabaek FC in Norway two years ago when he retired due to nagging injuries.
Rusike is among the top players from Zimbabwe to have played for Chiefs alongside the likes of Khama Billiat, Knowledge Musona, Tinashe Nengomasha, Willard Katsande and Onismor Bhasera.
