Former Orlando Pirates star Bennett Chenene has turned into a Prophet, citing that he is following his calling.
Bennett Chenene, who is yet to officially retire from professional football has embarked on a spiritual journey that is aimed at assisting people who going through hard times.
“I want to at least give people hope with the things [the challenges] we face in life,” Chenene said on Off The Pitch podcast with TK.
“The [issues] are not nice but these are the things we face.
“People must know that from [playing] football, this is where I am now,” added Bennett Chenene, who featured for different teams in the DStv Premiership including SuperSport United and AmaZulu.
The Sebokeng-born midfielder also revealed that his spiritual gift dates back to his playing days as a youngster.

“I used to have dreams when I was sleeping at a young age,” he said. “The same dream would unfold the same way the following day.
“Even when I was still playing football, I used to see that tomorrow I’m going to score but I was afraid to tell people.
“So I was a bit confused but I grew up with this [Prophecy]. It started getting serious when I was in Ivory Coast.
“I used to have headaches and thinking maybe it’s malaria but the doctors checked my high blood and everything. And they said I don’t have any sickness.
“I then came back from Ivory Coast to South Africa and I found my spiritual journey.
“I went to a pastor in Durban to consult and he told me that I won’t waste your time. You are not sick or anything you just have a spiritual gift.”
Chenene was given a life line in 2019 to revive his dying football career.
He signed for Ivorian side Williamsville Athletic Club after spending four years without a club.
Before that, the former Bloemfontein Celtics star had joined Orlando Pirates back in 2007 and made 71 appearances for the club.
He scored 13 goals and contributed three assists before he left Pirates to join Swallows in 2011 after several loan stints at Celtic.
