Good and bad news for Kaizer Chiefs ahead of Maritzburg United clash

While welcoming back one key player ahead of their DStv Premiership clash against Maritzburg United, Kaizer Chiefs will miss the services of one of their main players.

The match will be held at the Team of Choice’s backyard Harry Gwala Stadium with kick-off set for 8:00 pm.

CHRISTIAN SAILE RETURNS AHEAD OF MARITZBURG UNITED CLASH

The striker Christian Saile Basomboli will be back after serving a one-match suspension. This was after the DRC-international had accumulated four yellow cards.

He was booked three times in the league matches against Golden Arrows, Orlando Pirates and Richards Bay FC. The fourth one came during the Nedbank Cup match against Maritzburg in February.

The 23-year-old sat out the last match, where Chiefs won 2-1 against Casric Stars to book their place in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals.

Arthur Zwane will hope that Saile is of help offensively, as his side hasn’t been clinical in front of goal. The former Changa Rangers man has scored one goal and provided one assist in six games since joining the Soweto giants.

SIYABONGA NGEZANA SUSPENDED

Meanwhile, the bad news is that Amakhosi will have to face Maritzburg without the defender Siyabonga Ngezana who’s suspended.

The 25-year-old centre-back received his fourth yellow in a match against Casric Stars this past weekend.

Ngezana didn’t have a sweet start to the season after being criticised for committing costly errors. Some significant ones occurred when the Chiefs were humiliated by Mamelodi Sundowns with a 4-0 scoreline at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

He gifted Gaston Sirino a goal after a poor back pass before committing a foul in the box, which resulted in a penalty for the Tshwane giants.

However, he seems more confident and solid at the back now. He has also scored two goals in 13 games in all competitions.
