How Pitso Mosimane plans to help Gavin Hunt win Champions League

In a classy, kind gesture, Pitso Mosimane has offered to help SuperSport United’s Gavin Hunt win the CAF Champions League.

If there’s a South African coach who knows how to win the Caf Champions League, it’s ‘Jingles’ Mosimane.

The 58-year-old serial winner, who has three Champions League titles to his name, is now looking to share his winning secret with fellow South African coaches.

PITSO MOSIMANE’S KIND GESTURE TO GAVIN HUNT

Mosimane has revealed he would be happy to help compatriot Gavin Hunt win his maiden continental trophy next season.

Hunt guided Kaizer Chiefs to the CAF Champions League final in 2021. However, he was mercilessly shown the door by Amakhosi before the final. They ironically lost 3-0 at the hands of Mosimane’s Al Ahly.

It was Mosimane’s third continental title, having won it before with the Egyptian giants and Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016.

The longest-serving PSL coach, Hunt, is now on the verge of qualifying for the competition with SuperSport United.

And should Hunt’s SuperSport pip Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates to second spot in the DStv Premiership and qualify for the Champions League, Mosimane insists they can win it.

GAVIN HUNT CAN WIN CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

The Kagiso-born tactician holds Hunt in high regard, having competed against his teams for years in the PSL and insists a coach of his calibre deserves to win the Champions League.

“Off-season, I will host you for lunch and plan for Caf Champions League,” Mosimane said in response to Hunt’s congratulatory message on social media.

Mosimane was recently voted the coach of the month of February in the Saudi First Division after he guided his side Al Ahli Saudi to some strong performances.

“I know you can win it [Champions League], why not?” added Mosimane. “You have been in this tournament many years, and you understand it well. Just a courtesy lunch and a catch up meeting also.”
