Latest on Lazarus Kambole’s Young Africans future

Contrary to reports, former Kaizer Chiefs forward Lazarous Kambole has his future with Yanga and is staying put at the club.

On Thursday last week, the Tanzania Football Federation [TFF] stated that Kambole had been cleared to join Ugandan side Wakiso Giants.

In essence, the statement said Kambole had been released to make space for Tuisila Kisinda’s registration.

The 22-year-old Congolese winger, who rejoined the club from RS Berkane, became the 13th foreign national at the club.

Tanzania allows the registration of up to 12, and his arrival meant the club had to de-register one foreigner.

However, FARPost can confirm that there was never an agreement nor discussions with Wakiso regarding Kambole.

The club wrote to Kambole’s management team to clarify the issue.

They explained that they had decided to keep him out of premier league registration for three months until December. The reigning Tanzania champions continue fulfilling their contractual obligations to the Zambia international in full.

Yanga have reportedly placed him under special programs designed to reinstate his killer instinct while he continues to participate in all club activities.

Kambole is eligible for CAF competitions where he will be looking to prove his mettle after a challenging stint with Chiefs

Yanga president Eng. Hersi Said Ally recently explained their stance was because Kambole spent a greater part of pre-season on the sidelines due to injury.

“When he joined us, he picked an injury and missed much of the pre-season. The medical team told us he would need three weeks out, which meant he didn’t feature in the pre-season friendlies,” Hersi told FARPost

He added that knowing he is their player for the next two seasons, they felt there was no need to rush him.

“He’s our player for the next two seasons, and we felt there was no need to risk him by rushing him hence the decision not to register him for the Tanzania Premier League,” added Hersi.

Kambole joined Yanga on a two-year deal after parting company with Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the 2022/23 season.
