Majoro unfazed by Chiefs’ ‘big club’ status ahead of league clash

AmaZulu striker Lehlohonolo Majoro believes Kaizer Chiefs’ ‘big club’ status is nothing major to deal with ahead of their face-off in the DStv Premiership on Friday.

Majoro, who has donned the famous Gold and Black shirt before, was speaking during AmaZulu’s media open day at the Kings Park Outer Fields on Wednesday.

He feels that the encounter against Amakhosi will be interesting as both clubs were overpowered in their previous league outings.

Chiefs couldn’t celebrate their 53rd birthday in style last Saturday when they lost to Sekhukhune United at home.

Meanwhile, AmaZulu were downed by Royal AM in the KZN derby on Sunday.

MAJORO ON CHIEFS ENCOUNTER

“Chiefs lost their last game against Sekhukhune, we lost against Royal AM, so it’s two teams going into this game after suffering defeats,” said Majoro.

“And the very same way that we’re preparing to rectify what happened over the weekend, it’s the same mentality that they have.

“And I believe, them being referred to as a big club in South Africa, they might believe that they have an upper hand.

“But with us knowing that we have proven to be a formidable force in this league. We have another opportunity to emulate what we did in the previous seasons by turning a defeat into a win.

“Who knows, it might be our winning streak, more especially when we enter these last 15 games of the season.”

CHIEFS AND USUTHU TO MEET FOR THE FOURTH TIME THIS SEASON

Usuthu and the Glamour boys have already met three times this season and drew all the encounters.

In their first contest, they played a goalless draw in a league match on 03 September at the FNB Stadium.

They were then drawn against each other in the MTN8 semifinal which was played over two legs. The first leg ended in a 1-1 stalemate in the Chiefs’ backyard before they drew 0-0 in the return tie at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Usuthu then went through to the final through an away goal rule.

Romain Folz’s men have gathered 18 points in 15 games and are 12th on the log standings, while Chiefs are sitting in fourth place, having collected 24 points in the first round.

This much-anticipated clash will take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday at 19:30.
