Sekhukhune United quartet suspended for alcohol abuse
Four Sekhukhune United players have been suspended for alcohol abuse and face dismissal, FARPost can exclusively reveal.
The quartet – Sello Motsepe, Tlotlo Leepile, Siyabulela Shai and Katlego Molaba – attended training intoxicated on Saturday.
According to a Sekhukhune United player, who was present, breathalyser tests were done, and the four tested positive for alcohol.
SEKHUKHUNE UNITED BREATHALYSER TESTS
“I guess there were suspicions that they had consumed alcohol coming to training on Saturday.
“Random breathalyser tests were done, and they tested positive for alcohol. You didn’t have to be told. You could see they were not themselves. It was as though something was bothering them,” the player, who was also tested, told FARPost.
The insider further revealed that Motsepe was way over the limit. “Motsepe was way over the limit. The doctor was shocked at how he drove to get to training. Of course, the rest were drunk, but not as much as Motsepe,” added the source.
Their action is in violation of the club’s substance abuse policy and warrants dismissal. Indications are that the four will appear before the club’s disciplinary committee and face dismissal.
Motsepe, 29, has made eight appearances this season, the same number of times Shai, 29, has featured for Babina Noko. Leepile, 26, has struggled for game time, only featuring twice this season.
PREPARING HARD
Molaba, 28, who plays in central midfield, has only made one appearance. Sekhukhune recently appointed Brandon Truter as the club’s new coach. Babina Noko will be looking to pick up when the DStv Premiership second round resumes at the end of December.
Truter is already hard at work preparing the team for the second round of the 2022/23, and the action of the players is likely to be frowned upon by management.
