Zitha Kwinika’s bold promise to panicking Chiefs fans

Kaizer Chiefs fans are in panic mode after a faulty start to the season, and Zitha Kwinika has made a bold promise to the supporters.

With the trophy cabinet gathering dust for the last seven seasons at Naturena, the club made wholesale changes with 12 players departing.

The Soweto giants also welcomed several high-profile new signings, such as Kwinika, Siyethemba Sithebe, Ashley Du Preez, and Dillan Solomons, with new coach Arthur Zwane expected to lead the club to the promised land and win silverware.

KWINIKA SAYS THEY UNDERSTAND THE FANS’ FRUSTRATIONS

Kwinika says the players understand what the fans are going through as Chiefs are in the relegation zone in 14th place after seven matches in the league with just two wins and three defeats.

However, the Soweto-born defender says it is not the time to hit the panic button while promising the worried Chiefs fans a trophy to smile about soon.

“We understand where they are, and it pains us,” said Kwinika, who scored his first goal for Amakhosi in the 1-all draw against Marumo Gallants at the weekend.

“You know, when you meet someone telling you, ‘I can’t sleep, whatever you are doing, I’m not happy,’ it pains you because we know we are part of that journey.

“But I can promise the supporters that we understand where we are and understand what we need to do. This is our work.

“We are here to work, also for our families and obviously to represent the brand, because the badge is the main thing, and we understand how big the badge is,” Kwinika added.

The 28-year-old has featured in all the club’s games this season, and he insists that it is only a matter of time before Chiefs hit top gear and shine.

“This is not the true reflection of the log. Two wins, and we’ll be on top,” declared Kwinika.

“I think other teams have played eight games, and while games in hand are not points, if we win those games, we’re back on top where we belong, and we promise them, this season, we will make them smile.
