‘I’ve suffered blood pressure,’ reveals Mosimane
Al Ahly boss Pitso Mosimane has admitted he has suffered High Blood Pressure because of the demands that come with coaching Africa’s biggest football club.
Mosimane has been at the helm of the Egyptian giants since October 2020, capturing two Caf Champions League titles, the domestic title and the Egyptian Cup.
In an interview with Prime Sports With Mahlatse, the 57-year-old acknowledged that being at the helm of the Club of the Century was taking a toll on his health.
“I don’t know how I’m doing it; thank God I’m still there. It’s a difficult environment Mahlatse, and it is tiring. It takes a lot of my energy.
“Coaching has a lot of stresses and sicknesses – I’ve suffered from those things – I must tell you the truth. I’ve suffered from fatigue, and I’ve suffered from High Blood Pressure. It’s the nature of the business; it’s the nature of the club.
“It’s stress, you don’t sleep well. It’s not all about the social media and pressure of supporters; it’s also about your players – you want them to do this, and they don’t do it. It’s like that at every club. Some players fit in, and some don’t,” he said.
Mosimane’s Al Ahly lost the final of the Caf Champions League last week to Morocco side Wydad Casablanca recently. Club president Mahmoud El-Khatib held a video meeting with the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach.
“The meeting saw the presence of the Al Ahly Football Company board, headed by Yasseen Mansour, Hossam Ghaly, the club’s board member, and the club’s planning committee members, Mohsen Saleh and Zakaria Nassef. They discussed some points regarding the first team’s preparations for the upcoming period during the meeting,” the club said on its website.
They are set to hold another meeting on Friday upon Mosimane’s return to Cairo.
