Milford FC drop into relegation zone, while Maritzburg claim victory

Milford FC dropped into the relegation zone after losing 3-1 against Hungry Lions in the Motsepe Foundation Championship at Princess Magogo Stadium this weekend.

The KZN-based side made headlines last weekend after eliminating Kaizer Chiefs from the Nedbank Cup Last 32.

Milford FC is sitting 13th on the log in the Motsepe Foundation with 20 points in 20 matches played. They are two points away from the Platinum City Rovers who are occupying the 16th spot with 18 points.

Elsewhere, Maritzburg United returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over NB La Masia at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Friday.

The Team of Choice ended their eight-match winless run as the last time they collected maximum points was in November 2023 against Orbit College.

Maritzburg won six games in the league, drew seven, and lost on seven occasions. They are currently positioned ninth in the log with 25 points.

Meanwhile, title-chasing Orbit College beat Venda FC 2-1 at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The North West-based side bounced back from their 1-0defeat against Casric Stars last weekend.

The win over Venda FC took the Students second on the log with 36 points after 20 matches. Orbit won 11 games in the NFD, drawing three while losing seven times.

Orbit College is level on points with log leaders Magesi FC on 36 points. The Limpopo outfit claimed a much needed win against Baroka FC on Sunday.
