Former Kaizer Chiefs star hits good strides in Saudi Pro League

While Pitso Mosimane finally got it right in the Saudi Pro League, a former Kaizer Chiefs reliable goalscorer has hit good strides in the Middle East in the same league.

Mosimane registered his first win in charge of Abha FC on Friday afternoon when they beat Knowledge Musona’s ex-club, Al Tai, in a league clash.

They won 2-0, with the veteran gaffer heaving a huge sigh of relief as pressure was slowly mounting on him.

Interestingly, an ex-Amakhosi striker appears to have hit a purple patch in the same league – Saudi Pro League

FORMER KAIZER CHIEFS RELIABLE GOALSCORER HITS GOOD STRIDES IN THE SAUDI PRO LEAGUE

Zimbabwean International and former Chiefs attacker Knowledge Musona was on target for the second consecutive time for Al Riyadh. Musona scored last night – Friday, 1 March 2023, as they beat Al Akhdood 2-1 to leap into 14th position with 23 points.

Musona’s team won away from home at the Prince Hathloul Bjn Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium.

Al Riyadh are five points ahead of Pitso Mosimane’s Abha FC. Musona opened the scores in the 45th minute mark before Andre Anthony Gray scored their win goal.

The goal was his second in two successive league games and his third in the league. He has now scored three goals, with two assists under his belt this season.

Last week, the former Chiefs star helped the team salvage a point in a draw against Al Raed after scoring a delightful free-kick.

A POSSIBLE RETURN TO INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL

Musona is enjoying a good run of form at a time when there is talk of convincing him to come out of international football retirement.

Musona along Khama Billiat retired from international football after a decade of being vital cogs for Zimbabwe.

Billiat recently joined Yadah FC in Zimbabwe’s PSL after spending eight months without a club. And his new boss, Walter Magaya feels the duo can still offer much to the national team.

Billiat and Musona honed their skills at Aces Youth Soccer Academy together before forming a formidable combination for The Zimbabwe Warriors.

While Billiat aims redemption in his career, Musona is an established leader at Al Riyadh where he is the club captain.
