Bvuma vows to bounce back after Royal AM setback
Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma has vowed to bounce back after the Royal AM setback in the opening encounter of the DStv Premiership. The national team goalie insists he is not under pressure after conceding a goal in the first minute against Royal AM, which saw them lose the encounter 1-0.
Coach Arthur Zwane opted for Bruce Bvuma ahead of the skipper Itumeleng Khune and Brandon Peterson duo on Saturday. He is, however, happy with his performance, despite the disappointment of not getting the right result in the end. The 27-year-old highlighted the importance of a goalkeeper in keeping a clean sheet.
“Each goalkeeper wants to keep a clean sheet in each and every game, and I conceded in the first minute. I told myself I needed to keep going. I need to make sure I keep the team in the game. I believe we did well,” Bruce Bvuma told the media.
“Whoever gets a chance to play has to perform. I want to perform in each and every game, whether I concede or not. Here at Chiefs, we have four number ones; even Bontle Molefe is an international.”
“Each game we play as goalkeepers, we want to keep clean sheets. Going forward, looking at the next match, whoever gets a chance to play has to perform and keep a clean sheet for the team.”
The Bafana Bafana shot-stopper hopes the team will amend their mistakes and pick up a win on Tuesday when they host the John Maduka-led Maritzburg outfit.
“It’s very important for us [to get three points], as the coach mentioned that we still got 29 games to play, I believe it’s important for us to get maximum points, especially since we are playing at home.”
“We need to dominate as we did on Saturday and I believe going forward, we’ll definitely play like that and try by all means to win games. We want results, and we want to win, mentally, I believe we ready, we keep on going definitely we going to build from what you saw on Saturday.”
Both teams are aiming to register the first victory of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign. The Team of Choice drew 1-1 against Sekhukhune United in their season opener. Kick-off at FNB Stadium is at 730pm.
